Motherwell 0 St Johnstone 1 – Late Jason Kerr winner heaps pressure on Steelmen

St Johnstone piled more misery on Stephen Robinson’s Motherwell as they ended a run of four straight defeats to push closer to the top six.

Saints defender Jason Kerr was the difference between the two sides as he rose highest to bullet home a Liam Craig corner in the second minute of stoppage time.

It was a sore one to take for the Steelmen as they suffered their sixth defeat of the season – leaving them in tenth place in the Scottish Premiership.

They didn’t go down without a fight though and Tommy Wright’s side were lucky to stay level when Well looked for a breakthrough either side of the interval.

Chris Cadden went close just before half-time when he cut in off the right flank before unleashing a strike up and over the bar.

His teammate Curtis Main then tried his luck just after the break. He latched on to a through-ball by David Turnbull, but could only find the back of the stand as Saints keeper Zander Clark quickly closed down the angle.

Saints finished the strongest and ultimately took all three points with the final action of the game at Fir Park.
